Digital SLR camera have come a long way in recent years, but all of those dials and settings like P, S, A, M, TV, AV can be very confusing.

If you would like to learn how to use your DSLR camera to it’s full potential and improve your photography along the way, then this Master Class is your answer.

During this 2 hour workshop we will explain the basic photography fundamentals like shutter speed, aperture and ISO and how they affect your photos. We will discuss various functions & modes on your camera giving you the ability to be more creative. With general photography tips & techniques along the way this is a great way to to advance your photography to the next level.

This Class is a forerunner to the up coming‘Master Class - Intermediate Digital Photography’.

Confused by all those dials and settings like P-S-A-M, TV, AV.

Maybe you've been shooting in AUTO mode for some time and not sure how to get out of 'Auto' mode. Or you would just like to improve your photography.

After a short introduction and discussion on the basic functions & various modes and how they affect your photos. We will then practice them as a group before we head off on the photo walk through some of Melbourne's iconic arcades & laneways giving you time to experiment on your own photographing some of the beautiful architecture, graffiti & laneway culture.

I will be there to assist you with any issues/problems you may come across along the way and suggestions on settings and how best to shoot a particular scene if you're not sure.

This workshop is designed as an introduction to using your DSLR, to help you understand what all these settings mean and how to use them to your advantage along with general photography tips & techniques.


What this course is about

Over 2 hour we will walk you through, step by step, what all these settings mean and how to use them to your advantage and how to start shoot in Manual Mode. All in 3 simple steps.

We will discuss some basic functions & various modes and how they affect your photos along with general photography tips & techniques.

This workshop is designed to help you better understand your DSLR camera. Whether you shoot portraits, landscape, family events or you just want to have more control, by knowing when and how to use your camera in various auto and manual modes, you can achieve the best results.

With a brief talk explaining the various setting & their functions, with each person getting their own flash card explaining exposure, shutter speed, aperture and ISO we will then go on a photo walk giving you time to practice. By keeping this workshop to a maximum of 8 attendees will help to ensure everyone has the opportunity for one on one training or to spend more time with you if you're having trouble with a particular area.

During this 4 hour comprehensive course photographer Barrie Turpin will teach you the basic functions of your digital SLR camera along with general photography tips & techniques.
